The way we connect with English

During the first term, the English Area continued to reinforce its main objective: strengthening the use of English as a central element in our students’ learning process. As a school with an English emphasis, we are constantly committed to continuous improvement, not only in content but also in the meaningful and consistent use of the language both inside and outside the classroom.

It is essential for students to actively use English during lessons, promoting effective communication and confidence in real contexts. Likewise, the use of key resources such as physical dictionary is encouraged, allowing students to become more autonomous, expand their vocabulary, and improve their comprehension skills progressively.

Additionally, we highlight the importance of consistent work on the Richmond platform, particularly through the Step-Up English assignment, which is assigned weekly from Wednesday to Sunday. This activity is designed to reinforce classroom content and must be completed responsibly and autonomously, fostering independent learning habits.

For the second term, students have been assigned the iRead book for both English and Communicative English classes, which will support the development of reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.

At the beginning of this second term, we celebrated our English Fair, where students explored and presented important cultural celebrations such as Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Memorial Day. These activities allowed students to connect language learning with cultural awareness, understanding traditions, values, and historical contexts from English-speaking countries.

Looking ahead, during this second term we will hold our Spelling Bee for both primary and Highschool. We encourage everyone to start preparing, as this event will be a great opportunity to demonstrate vocabulary knowledge, pronunciation skills, and confidence in English.
